2011 Caldecott Award Winner

Yesterday the ALA announced the 2011 Youth Media Award Winners. I was especially excited to hear the winner for the Caldecott Medal: "A Sick Day for Amos McGee." Unfortunately, I haven't yet read it though it's been on my Amazon wishlist for a couple months.

The illustrations are completely charming. Don't you want to rush right out and get it?

The Caldecott Honor books are "Dave the Potter: Artist, Poet, Slave" and "Interrupting Chicken." Have you read any of the award winners? What do you think?

And Tomie dePaola won the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award- much deserved!

  1. I hadn't read the Caldecott or either of the honors. I do have to say, though, I checked my library right after the awards were announced and they don't even have any of the books. I guess they'll be doing some purchasing soon ;)
